Siavonga DC wants intensified traffic patrols

TRAFFIC police should intensify road patrols on the Kafue-Chirundu road in order to curb accidents, says Siavonga district commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama .

Mr. Kanyama said that traffic police officers from the Siavonga, Chikankata and Chirundu districts should collaborate to curb the increased levels of indiscipline by truck drivers on the Chirundu-Lusaka road.

“Police should put their heads together to stop the careless and dangerous driving by truck drivers on the Chirundu-Lusaka road before more lives are lost,” he stated.

He said that, “traffic accidents can be avoided on that road if our police officer take serious and drastic measures,” Mr. Kanyama said.

While making particular reference to his accident on February 10, Mr. Kanyama who said he has he has on four occasions been a victim of the dangerous driving by the truck drivers, called on people to immediately notify police any dangerous driving by truck drivers on the Chirundu-Lusaka road.

“More accidents can be avoided if the offenders are seriously punished,” he said.
