A concerned parent Lament Mweemba and resident of Simaundu village of Chipepo chiefdom in Chirundu has called on the office of the district commissioner to push for a National Registration Card office in the district.
He said it is a very big challenge and expensive venture for him as parent of four eligible children to find money to travel to either Siavonga or Kafue districts and get NRCs.
He explained that everyone knows that an NRC is an important document for every Zambian to be identified as a citizen hence the importance of the presence of the office too. He added that it is very sad to note that a lot of adults in his village do not have NRCs because they cannot afford to travel to nearest towns and get one.
Mr. Mweemba said government must quickly have the registration office in Chirundu because it is now a town that is steadily growing and people must be registered.
Efforts to get a comment from the office of the district commissioner proved futile by press time.
Chirundu district has no National registration office where people can get NRCs; people have to travel to Siavonga or Kafue to access the office services.
