ZAMBIA Rugby Union (ZRU) president Clement Sinkamba has gone through unopposed as union boss ahead of the annual general meeting (AGM) after his challenger Ackim Mwale has been disqualified from the race.

And all is set for this year’s AGM slated for the 16th of this month at Ndola’s Ambassador’s hotel.

Outgoing ZRA Secretary General Francis Chitambo told the Sun Sports on Monday morning that Mwale was nominated by a club which was not in good standing with the union.

“Mwale’s application was declared as invalid because the club which nominated and seconded him did not pay affiliation fee to the union for 2019 at the time of closing on Saturday midnight.

He said Chibuluma which nominated Mwale failed to pay its affiliation fees so Sinkamba went through unopposed.

Chitambo further said Tom Kambwali also went through unopposed for the position of Vice-president as he was the only one who filed in.

Chitambo said that Central Province Police Commissioner Chola Katanga and Philemon Tembo would battle it out for the position of general secretary.

He said that Hudson Mapeta also went through unopposed for the position of treasurer as he was the only candidate that filed in his nomination papers.

“Five candidates, Kampata Banda, Jeremiah Manda, Vincent Liato, Isaac Manda and James Banda will battle it out for three positions of committee members.
