POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION TO HEALTH
The provision of health in the country is important and any effort by individuals to supplement government is welcome.
Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi of the Chewa people is indeed to be commended for having initiated the construction of a community clinic in Nyaviombo village, Chipata district, where his second palace is located.
This is the kind of thinking that our traditional leaders should have and not just looking for help from government.
Traditional leaders have plenty natural resources in the form of land and human resource to implement any project that they want.
As local leaders, they know and understand the challenges that their subjects face daily and should therefore be in the forefront of implementing projects to ease such challenges.
It is profoundly pleasing to note that the Paramount Chief of the Chewa people has initiated a project that targets the interest of the people. A clinic is a welcome addition to any community in that it will help people who may need to access the services of a doctor.
The paramount Chief initiated the construction of a zonal clinic and six houses for medical personnel so that people receive the much needed health services from within their vicinity.
Speaking after touring the project at the invitation of Paramount Chief Kalonga Gawa Undi, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela commended the traditional ruler for having initiated the project.
We hope that government will now help the traditional leader with whatever material is needed to complete the project.
Furthermore, we hope that the clinic would also be equipped and provided with the necessary medical personnel to operate.
This would go a long in assuring other leaders that government is ready to partner with traditional leaders in the provision of better services to the people.
