Lightning kills 2 in Chiengi

LIGHTNING has killed two people of the same family in Chiengi district in Luapula Province.

Jane Mumba, 23, and Janet Muyamba, 17, of Musinsa village in Chief Puta’s area, died instantly after being struck by the lightning while at home.

Luapula Province police commissioner Elias Chushi confirmed the incident which happened on Thursday, January 24, around 13:00 hours.

Mr. Chushi said members of the public reported the matter to police in Chiengi district.

He said that the deceased, who have since been buried, were struck by lightning while outside their house – ZANIS
