Soccer agent worries over changed super league

THE recent change in the structure and calendar of the Zambia Super league has affected player transfers and movements during the summer transfer window, says soccer agent Sasha Tembo.

Tembo said that there had been little activity in the Zambian transfer market this summer because of the change in the Zambian soccer calendar caused by the change of CAF guidelines to conform to all major leagues in Africa.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Tembo said the time between the close of the 2018 soccer season and the beginning of the 2019 soccer season was too short to give teams enough time to prepare themselves.

Tembo, who was recently certified a FIFA intermediary, expressed concern at the rising number of foreign players in the Zambian super league which he said had not grown enough to accommodate many outsiders.

“They should be regulated. We haven’t yet reached a stage where we can bring in lots of foreign players, he said.

“Yes, we need competition, but there is still so much to be done first to grow our players,” stated Tembo

He attributed the failure by the Zambian players to break into major European leagues last season on lack of proper representation from soccer agents.
